About Mr. Smith
Education
I grew up and completed high school near Green Bay, Wisconsin. After graduation, I attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. I earned a Bachelor's Degree of Chemical Engineering and a Minor in Business Management.
After graduating from U of M, I moved to Las Vegas and enrolled in the graduate program at UNLV. After 2 years of study, I earned a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in 2006. Since receiving my Master's degree, I have taken over 50 credits of continuing education coursework to learn about new and exciting ways to help students achieve their fullest potential.

Personal Life
While away from East Tech, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married and have a 6 year old daughter named Savannah. She likes swimming, cheerleading, gymnastics and camping. She just started 1st grade this fall and she knows all about physics. (Just kidding - she likes P.E. the best!) I also have a golden retriever who also likes to go swimming.

Hobbies
As a physics teacher, it probably isn't surprising that I like to work on things! I enjoy learning how to repair things and often learn by reading books or researching using the internet. During my free time I'm often working on my cars in my garage or fixing and remodeling my house.
I'm a sports fan and enjoy watching and playing most sports, but especially baseball. I like to do outdoor activities, including camping and hiking. Of course, I am a Green bay Packers fan and attended many games when I was a little kid.
My favorite hobby is my racing go kart that I use to compete at the local level. It has a 125cc motor and can travel up to 100 mph! It is fun, challenging and very technical. A successful racer needs to have a solid understanding of physics to set up their kart (or car) to go as fast as possible.

In the summer, I work as an instructor at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School. It is located at the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump. I get to drive brand new Corvettes and instruct adults how to safely drive their car around a race track. It is a fun and fast-paced job!
